I hope you all had a good time up in Newcastle for the Magic Weekend. Magic is always a good atmosphere and a great place to play, I wish I could have been there and been part of it.
It was a funny old game, we started really well, our defence was strong and Marshy set the pace getting a hat-trick but for some reason that slipped a bit and Warrington went in front. We went from looking comfortable in the lead to on the verge of losing it, luckily Budgie was there at the end to get the try and rescue a point.
Although we only came away with the one point I think it shows just how much passion goes into our games. We made some mistakes and we let them back in, which you really can’t do against a team like Warrington, but for us to have that fight to get a draw at the death is great.
I’m happy to say that I’m now back in training doing a few light bits and I’m hoping to get running soon. I’m still a bit sore, but every day feels better and I’m working hard with the physios to get back to my best. We’re not rushing things but it’s steady progress.
I’ve got another check up with the doctor soon but as long as he gives me the green light I should be good to go and get back into full training. Hopefully all goes to plan and I can soon get back out there soon, along with some of the other lads who are due back too.
It’s Derby Week this week and I’m a bit gutted not to be involved. I’ve played in finals but these are the games that you really want to be involved in. Waney is so passionate about these games and so are a lot of the lads as they’re local, but even for myself I love playing in it.
I’ll be heading over to support the boys but I’m not the best at being a spectator so you might hear me shouting from the stands! It should be a fantastic game though, the team is coming along well, we showed that at the weekend, so hopefully we can go out there and get the bragging rights.
We’ve then got the quick turnaround to Wakefield on Bank Holiday Monday, so it’s a busy time and it can be tough on the bodies, but we did it at Easter and got the four points and we’ll be hoping to do the same this weekend.
See you soon
